The firing electronic switches the modules precisely when the voltage across the thyristor module is equal zero. Thus, transient current peaks are minimized and reactive loads are gently switched with a very low wear and tear.
BELUK-TS devices typically switch 10 ms after the switching signal is applied. This is ideal for fast fluctuating loads like cranes, elevators, welding sets, but also for wind farms, oilrigs or the automotive industry.
All implemented thyristor modules have a blocking voltage of 1800 V or higher and are designed for a long lifetime. Moreover, they are designed to be capable to handle a permanent overload of 30 % at an ambient temperature of 25 °C.
All devices are protected against overheating by shutting themselves off if the heat sink exceeds a temperature of 85 °C. This protects them against malfunctions like a failing cabinet fan or high cabinet temperatures.
Besides a visual inspection of the heat sink and the cooling fan yearly, no further maintenance is required.
The BELUK-TS thyristor switches are very compact in their dimensions. Consequently, there are a higher number of possible arrangements in a cabinet to avoid that the devices thermally interfere each other.
